Dear Sir,
Could you please explain the governments reasoning on the following points, and why they are doing nothing to alleviate the enormous tax burden which they are placing on the UK haulage industry
Why do they continue to increase fuel duty and VED which they know is having a catastrophic affect on the haulage industry, why they only spend £5 billion on roads when £36 billion is raised, are they trying to destroy our industry through taxation, please no waffling on emissions, ozone layer or saving the world.
Why are the government placing the burden of the illegal immigrant problem on the door of the haulier? Why even after his drivers have carried out the most stringent safety checks observed by witnesses are they still to be prosecuted and fined? How can a trailer hire firm be prosecuted for allowing their trailer to be used by illegal immigrant stowaways?
Why wont the government charge foreign vehicles for the use of UK roads and limit the amount of cheap fuel brought into this country?
What action is the government taking to stop European operators from employing non EU drivers from making deliveries within Europe?
Is the government aware of the considerable detrimental affect that the 48 hour working week will have on the UK haulage Industry?
